RTI-2019 Notified

The much awaited Right To Information (RTI) Act-2019 has been Notified by the GoI w e f October 24, 2019. According to Notification, the CIC and Information  Commissioner(IC) shall hold the office for a period of three years. CIC pay will be 2.5 lakh(fix) per mensem, while IC gets 2.25 lakh(fix) per mensem. If CiC and IC , at the time of appointment , in receipt of any pension, the pay of such CIC/IC shall be reduce by the amount of that pension including any portion of pension which was commuted and pension equivalent of other form of retirement benefit. Act is mum on age bar.

According to Act if any serving officer appointed CIC or IC, shall be deemed to have retired from such service w e f the date of his appointment as CIC or IC. CIC & IC shall draw DA at the rate admissible to an officer holding a post carrying the same pay in the government , from time to time. CIC and ICs will get other benefits according to new RTI Act- 2019. The condition of service for which no express provision has been made in these rules shall be referred in each case to the Central govt for its decisions and the decisions of the central govt thereon shall be binding of to CICs and ICs of Central and States. Act further says that the central govt shall have power to relax the provision of any of these rules in respect of any class or category of person,
