Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju on Friday felicitated the participants of ‘Fit India Mission 200 Kms’ walkathon at a function held at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force HQrs in New Delhi. Participants were awarded with special walkathon medals and certificate. The walkathon, first of its kind, was organized by the ITBP in association with the Sports Ministry in Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) from 31 October to 2 November 2020 to spread awareness about the ‘Fit India Mission’ of the Government of India.
Apart from ITBP, 100 officials from other Central Armed Police Forces as well as Haryana, Rajasthan & Gujrat Police had also participated in the walkathon. S S Deswal, DG, ITBP said that the force is committed and will continue to work for the Fit India campaigns in future as well. In the past couple of years, ITBP has organized dozens of marches and speed marches, including marches from the Himalayas to the desert and the North East to the seas to spread the message of fitness & health awareness among the General Public of the country. In all these marches, the ITBP has also conveyed the message of cleanliness and plugging to the local population.
