In the neigbouring countries of India, cases of Coronacirus are rising rapidly. In Bangaladesh, the total number of people infected by Corona virus in the country has gone up to 57,563.So far, 781 people have died due to coronavirus. 571 people have recovered in the country in the last 24 hours. According to Additional Director General of Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Nasima Sultana said mortality rate due to COVID-19 in Bangladesh is 1.3 percent which is much lower than the global average. In the meanwhile, the first death due to Corona virus in the Rohingya refugee camps was reported at Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar area of Bangladesh. The Cox's Bazar area shelters more than a million Rohingya refugees.
In Sri Lanka, 36 navy personnel are among 40 patients tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, raising the number of active patients to 939. Out of the total 1789 infections so far, 839 have recovered while 11 persons have died due to the virus. Navy spokesman Isuru Sooriyabandara said the consistent rise in the number of infected navy personnel infected is due to PCR tests being conducted on specific groups of officers.Sri Lanka has not seen any community case for over a month and public life is slowly returning to normalcy with safety precautions in place.Almost all the cases for over a month are either from navy or Sri Lankans returning from foreign shores.
Nepal has reported one more COVID-19 fatality. A 45-year old man from Palpa district died due to coronavirus.According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with this the COVID deaths in the Himalayan nation have reached ten. The Ministry spokesperson said 334 more persons were diagnosed with COVID-19 during the last 24 hours taking the total number to 2,634.This is the first time when Nepal has reported more than 300 cases of coronavirus infection in a single day since the outbreak of the pandemic. Out of 77 districts of Nepal, 65 districts have reported coronavirus infection till date.
Pakistan’s coronavirus cases rose to 89,249 on Friday after a record 4,896 new infections were detected in the country, while the death toll due to Covid has reached 1,838, including 68 patients died in last 24 hrs. It was the third consecutive day when a record number of cases were reported in Pakistan after the Eid holidays and easing of lockdown restrictions at the end of May.
